ITED is pleased to sponsor a special conference, Developing Leaders: Impacting Learners, centered on improving instruction and teacher leadership. Sessions will address instructional coaching, mentoring, new teacher induction, and teacher leadership. The Conference will be held Thursday, October 22 through Friday, October 23 at the Holiday Inn Express in Bourbonnais, Illinois. ITED invites school administrators, P-12 general and special educators, teacher educators, and school support personnel.

Highlights
 Dr. Jim Knight
- Keynote Presentations: Dr. Jim Knight, researcher and teacher educator at the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning. Dr. Knight has been involved with researching and developing effective coaching programs for more than a decade. He is the author of Instructional Coaching: A Partnership Approach.
- Break Out and Poster Sessions: Topics will focus on mentoring, coaching, new teacher induction, reflective practice, and teacher leadership
- Update from the Illinois State Board of Education
- The 2009 Conference begins with breakout sessions on Thursday afternoon October 22, followed by a keynote address and social networking opportunities in the evening. The conference will conclude after lunch on Friday with a “state of the State” address by ISBE.
Call for Proposals
In an effort to further address current trends and issues, the following topics have been identified as those for which presentations are being sought:
Mentoring and Induction, Coaching, Teacher Leadership, Effective Professional Development, Reflective Practice, Action Research, National Board Certification
Please consider sharing your knowledge and expertise with practitioners, higher education professionals, and administrators from across Illinois by submitting a proposal by July 1, 2009.

Conference registration:
- $125 registration
- $50 full-time graduate student registration
Registration fee includes refreshments and hors d’oeuvres during the Thursday evening social hour; Friday breakfast and lunch.
