Accepting Nominations: Excellence in Teaching Award |

|
In this time of fiscal and political upheaval in education, we have to keep our eye on the good work we do. Here is one way to recognize the work of others as well as ourselves. On behalf of the Illinois Teacher Education Division of the Council for Exceptional Children, I am pleased to announce that we are soliciting nominations for the ITED Excellence in Teaching Award for college or university faculty. Each year this award is presented to a teacher educator who has made outstanding contributions in teaching and/or program design or coordination in special education. Over the years a number of faculty from across the state have been recognized for their work in the field. Those eligible for nomination include any current or retired special education faculty member from an institution of higher education in Illinois. The nominee must have taught at least two years in special education at the college or university level. Nominations may come from faculty, a department chair or dean, or a current or former student. Self-nominations also are accepted. Typically a nomination letter is about 150 – 250 words and cites examples of work. To nominate a deserving faculty member for the ITED Excellence in Teaching Award, please complete and return the enclosed form by Monday October 3, 2011. We will contact the winner and make the award publicly at the October Illinois CEC conference. Please submit nominations to:
